About Intelligence Bureau
Intelligence Bureau is a state-owned organization that works in Pakistan as a civilian intelligence agency. This Intelligence Bureau was made by the Major General of the British Army, who was the head of this department in 1885 at Shimla. At the time of Independence of Pakistan, just like Armed Forces, IB was also partitioned and given to Pakistan, which was located in Karachi. IB is the oldest Intelligence agency of Pakistan and is the only agency working after the independence with responsibility of foreign intelligence and strategies. Later two other Intelligence agencies also formed called Military Intelligence (MI) and ISI. Since IB was failing in the matters of foreign intelligence and is good in the country’s internal security matters. All these important facts ultimately lead to the establishment of ISI in 1948. Appointments, meetings, and supervisions of IB are made by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
